The Goal is Mutual Enjoyment

(i want to write more about this, but i'll need to figure out what more there is to write about)

We owe each other enjoyment

Before social media, there was an implicit agreement that people will entertain each other. Act out movies, sing, make art, etc. When social media came around, we effectively outsourced it to the pros.

You do not need to be a master artist to impress your friends. even the mere act of making art around them gives them permission to do so themselves (people have such strange anxieties lol who tf is stopping you). Seeing art made for you is much better than anything.

Forgetting the fun

Sometimes people are focused on hostile debates. Now these people might claim that they are seeking the truth or some shit, but for a proportion of them i'm willing to bet that this is the only way that they know how to socialize and at least find attention (a poor substitute for enjoyment) from others.

people are playing the most fun game they know at any given time. If you see someone doing something stupid or even actively harmful to them, then its because the best thing they know. Once you show them that there is a better way of doing things—which is remarkably hard because they'll have a bunch of psychological defenses set up—they'll almost automatically switch of their own accord

For Lulz

I like when men explain basic things to me because in my mind it’s not mansplaining, it’s more like when a toddler is really excited to tell you about dinosaurs and you’re like that’s right cutie! you’re so smart!! only one of us is being condescending and it’s me
